Julia Hospice & Palliative Care

Beginnings:

The idea for a new healthcare provider in Erie County, PA that would bring improved care services for those in the community living with serious illness started because there is no free-standing hospice facility or outpatient palliative medicine provider.  In 2019, Julia Hospice and Palliative Care (JHPC) became incorporated and in the same year, land was purchased. The following year, JHPC became a registered 501c3 non-profit corporation.

Why Julia House? 

Many people who are at the end of their lives don't have a caregiver and need a place where care is available 24/7.

Over 25% of patients who are enrolled in hospice annually need a higher level of hospice care in a facility, but only 13 people (HealthPivots 2022) received this level of care in Erie County-less than 1%!

Even though families want to care for their loved ones at home, it is often overwhelming, physically and emotionally.  Because it is emotionally and physically draining, many caregivers become ill themselves.  

Our Mission and Goal:

Julia Hospice and Palliative Care (JHPC) will provide comfort care, caregiver support, and bereavement services for those at the end of their lives, and care management and support services for those living with serious illness in Erie County, regardless of the person's ability to pay for services. We are committed to enabling the well-being of all in our community living with serious illness through unmatched skill, compassion, and advocacy.

Julia Hospice and Palliative Care (JHPC) will offer in-home hospice care and residential/inpatient hospice care at Julia House, Erie’s first and only free-standing hospice facility, where they can receive expert medical care 24/7 by a specially trained staff in end-of-life care. Julia House will also have the first and only outpatient palliative care clinic in Erie County that will improve the quality of a patient’s life by providing relief from their distressing symptoms.
