Just Greys

A Sanctuary dedicated to the care and study of the African Grey Parrot.

Over the past few decades, parrots have become the third most popular pets in American households, cats being #2 and dogs, #1. However, most people are not prepared for the life span of parrots-between 50-70 years. Now imagine someone getting a baby parrot and not realizing the bird will live with them for the rest of their lives, or possibly even outlive them. Across America, there are thousands of birds in need of homes at any given time. Many birds end up in five or more different homes during their lifetime. While parrots are beautiful, adorable, funny and smart, among other things, they have not been domesticated as dogs and cats. As a result, they can be hormonal, destructive and require a great deal of attention. This is why Just Greys has come into existence- to help house, feed and understand just one species of parrot- the African Grey. Our goal is to educate consumers, owners and others to better understand these beautiful creatures, while providing a safe, stimulating environment for our Greys to live out their lives and take in others seeking a permanent home.
