Keystone Family Alliance

Keystone Family Alliance exists to end the child welfare crisis in Lancaster County - and all of Pennsylvania. 

We began in Centre County in 2008 by partnering with churches and recruiting foster families but quickly realized that recruitment of new foster families was never going to be enough to end the child welfare crisis. 

The Crisis

There are not enough homes for every child so...

1/3 are placed outside of the County - away from their community and school

24% are placed in institutions instead of families 

90% of foster families will quit within 2 years 

They express feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and unsupported 

The Solution

Keystone Family Alliance aims to EDUCATE, MOTIVATE, and EQUIP every Christian in Lancaster County on the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children. 

When the Body of Christ steps into the child welfare system hope breaks through. 
When a family is surrounded by a team of volunteers 90% are still fostering after the two year mark. 

Here is how we support families and engage the church in the child welfare system in Lancaster County...

Care Communities: Like the story of the Van Pelts in the above video, we support foster & adoptive families with teams of 8 volunteers that bring meals, provide childcare and do other household tasks so each family can foster longer and stronger! Learn More.

Gateway: We meet tangible needs of local biological, kinship, foster and adoptive families through our tangible needs portal. Volunteers can sign-up here to receive an email whenever a local family has a need - from a new bed, to clothing, to kitchen utensils and everything in-between!

Church Partners: All the work we do happens through the local church! The above churches are already partnering with us in Lancaster County. We are looking to expand to 39 church partners by the end of 2025. Learn more about church partnership here.
