Keith Highlanders Pipe Band

A nonprofit organization

Mission

The Keith Highlanders Pipe Band is a non-profit cultural and educational organization dedicated to broadening the public's interest in and appreciation for traditional Scottish piping, drumming, and dancing in the Pacific Northwest.

Description

Formed in 1952, the Keith Highlanders Pipe Band (www.khpb.org) celebrates over 65 years serving the Seattle community, teaching Scottish music and dance to students of all ages, and performing at over 40 events every year throughout the Northwest. Wearing the Ancient Keith tartan, the Keith Highlanders are the official pipe band of the Clan Keith--a rare designation for a band residing outside Scotland.

Under the direction of Pipe Major Larry Koch and Drum Sergeant Greg MacDonald, the band competes at many Highland Games throughout the region and has traveled six times to the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland in the past 15 years, including placing 3rd in Grade 4B in 2008. The band plans to return to the World Championships in 2020.
