WHAT IS KIDPOWER?
Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower International (commonly known as Kidpower)
is a global non-profit leader in teaching child protection, positive communication, and personal safety strategies and skills for children, teens, and adults, including those with special needs. These skills help to protect individuals from bullying, sexual abuse, abduction,and other violence and to empower them to develop strong and safe relationships that enrich their lives.

Instead of using fear to teach about danger, Kidpower makes it fun to learn to be safe with people. Our programs are highly recommended by educators, public safety officials, mental health professionals, child development experts, martial artists, and parents for being positive, highly experiential, emotionally and physically safe, and adapted for the ages, abilities, and life situations of our students.

WHAT SERVICES DO WE PROVIDE?
Since 1989, Kidpower has served over 3 million people of many different cultures around the world through our positive and practical in-person workshops, Starting Strong programs for young children, K-12 curriculum, consulting, publications, and free online library.

Kidpower provides workshops and educational resources on child protection, personal safety, bullying and abuse prevention, stranger safety, workplace safety, harassment prevention, self-advocacy, and boundary-setting to individuals, families, schools, organizations, and institutions wanting to protect the safety and well-being of themselves and those in their care.

Kidpower SERVES LOCALLY and SHARES GLOBALLY through supporting our 30 US and International Centers and publishing extensive online resources and printed books describing how to use the skills and strategies we teach.

In 2014, we provided in-person workshops to over 10,000 people in the greater Bay area and another 10,000 through our centers worldwide. We reached over 500,000 people through our educational resources.

Kidpower's fun, NON-fear-based ‘Positive Practice’ teaching methodology gives people the chance to be successful in practicing these skills in a context specific to their abilities and life situations, which reduces anxiety and builds competence. In addition, Kidpower trains, coaches and mentors families and staff in how to recognize, prevent, intervene and remedy bullying and other violent behavior and negative social interactions.

We concentrate on practical hands-on prevention and intervention skill building that fosters long-term and sustainable change. Our four (4) main program categories are:

  • Kidpower Programs for children and the families/program staff serving them;
  • Starting Strong Programs for young children and their adults;
  • Teenpower Programs for teenagers;
  • Fullpower Programs for adults;
  • Collegepower Programs for young people living away from home;
  • Seniorpower Programs for older people;
  • Adapted Programs for individuals with disabilities.

The skills for being safe with people are the same as the skills needed for success at school, at work, and in life. One of the root causes that block people, especially children and teens, from succeeding and thriving is that they lack the social-emotional and behavioral skills necessary to interact appropriately, effectively, and safely with others.

A great deal of misery, trauma, and tragedy can be prevented when adults know how to recognize problems, advocate effectively, and intervene powerfully and respectfully to protect young people from harmful relationships and when everyone has the tools they need to develop healthy and strong relationships and to take charge of their own emotional and physical safety.

By giving a donation, you will help Kidpower to provide skills for lifelong safety and success to those most in need. And by making this donation NOW, during this event, you can potentially double your impact in creating a culture of caring, respect, and physical and emotional safety in YOUR community.
