Every child deserves happy healthy smile!

Cavities are the most common chronic childhood disease in the United States.

• More than half of children aged 6 to 8 have had a cavity in at least one of their baby teeth.


• More than half of adolescents aged 12 to 19 have had a cavity in at least one of their permanent teeth.


• Children aged 5 to 19 years from low-income families are twice as likely (25%) to have cavities, compared with children from higher-income households (11%)

The statistics are alarming but it doesn't have to be this way. Tooth decay is preventable and treatable.

Kid Smiles serves over 18,000 children a year with high-quality, comprehensive dental care in our three dental centers and over 10,000 children, adults, and families with oral health outreach and educational programming throughout the community. 

Kids Smiles accepts public insurance, never turns away a child due to lack of insurance, and provides free care to un- and underinsured patients on an ongoing basis. We are the only stand-alone pediatric nonprofit dental provider in the Philadelphia area that exclusively serves children in addition to providing community-based outreach services to children, adults, and families in a variety of diverse settings including schools, early learning centers, social service agencies, primary care providers, and other community-based organizations.

Our goals are to prevent dental decay and other oral health issues in historically underserved children through comprehensive dental care, screenings, and oral health education, and to increase access to care for as many at-risk children as possible.
