Kimball Jenkins (KJ) is a vibrant cultural center, celebrating more than four decades of fostering our local community through art, history, and culture. Serving over 5,000 community members annually, our historic 3-acre campus is home to a wide variety of programming designed for all ages, abilities, and interests.
KJ offers arts education classes for ages 2-adult in a variety of disciplines as well as community outreach initiatives including ArtLab and Open Studio Saturdays, providing free and impactful creative avenues for teens and families to explore the world of art.
Additionally, Kimball Jenkins provides gallery space to local and regional artists within its historic Mansion and Carriage House to promote their work and express their artistic voice and culture. Free public exhibitions and opening receptions provide accessibility for individuals to appreciate art that they might not otherwise view due to associated costs.
Along with cultural commitment, our organization provides quality of life contributions to the community through the utilization of our historic property. Private social events such as weddings, graduations, and showers are held throughout the year and provide an opportunity to experience one of Concord’s cultural and historical landmarks.
In the past year, KJ awarded a total of $46,000 in partial and full scholarships, offered 170 distinct classes for tiny artists, youth & teens, and adult divisions, presented 11 exhibitions featuring 235 unique artists and 600 pieces of artwork, hosted over 150 private and public events on our historical campus, and invested $124,000 in continued historical preservation and planned property improvements.
What our community is saying about KJ:
“A scholarship enables my daughter to attend a program giving her enriching experiences and cultivating growth. As a single mom of 4 children whose father passed away funds are very limited. The summer program brings joy and a scholarship would give her an experience we would never be able to afford.” - Summer Camp parent
"This was my daughter’s first experience at Kimball Jenkins, and first time doing any sort of extracurricular activity in a couple of years- so yes, her trying Art Lab was a big deal for our family, and I am so grateful she did! Every week, the instructors are prepared for class with water, snacks, and welcoming energy. They are clear about what art form will be covered and how to do it but also allow for their students to experiment as they go. Art Lab is an incredibly vital resource for our community in Concord, NH and it being accessible to all families living here is just as vital as the program itself. We are so thankful for this incredible opportunity and would love to return for future programs!" - ArtLab parent
“Kimball Jenkins stands as a beacon of creativity and artistic exploration, making significant contributions to the art community through its Artist in Residence Program. This initiative provides artists like me with essential support to develop my craft and share my perspectives with everyone around this community. Kimball Jenkins fosters a unique atmosphere that encourages experimentation, collaboration, and personal growth, making it an invaluable opportunity for emerging and established artists too.”
-- Jozimar Matimano, Artist in Residence
“It has been a pleasure working with Kimball Jenkins on this project with the NH Correctional Facility for Women. There was so much planning and coordinating to be done and every detail was handled smoothly, making this a positive experience for me as an artist and for the women at the facility. Public speaking, acting, communication skills, improvisation and just plain fun are part of the sessions. Most of the women who participate are working hard to make something better of themselves, to learn new skills and teach others by example. I feel privileged to be part of this program and truly appreciate everything Kimball Jenkins has done to make it possible.”
- Genevieve Aichele, Theatre Artist, NH State Artist Laureate
