KIPP St. Louis Public Schools

A nonprofit organization

KIPP--the Knowledge is Power Program--is a national network of college preparatory public charter schools educating thousands of low-income students around the United States. KIPP St. Louis has six high-performing schools in the City of St. Louis, educating students from pre-kindergarten through high school, and is dedicated to preparing scholars for success in college and life. At KIPP, not only do we provide students with the opportunities to receive an excellent academic education but also to address their social, emotional, physical and mental health needs so they can take full advantage of the opportunities available to them. We currently serve a student body with diverse experiences and academic abilities. This involves creating structures that enable students to receive customized support based on their unique needs-from small group intervention classes, to differentiated schedules and courses to wrap-around services for those living in poverty. Of our student population, 100% qualify for the free and reduced lunch program, and 98% of our students are Black or Hispanic, making the neighborhoods where we are some of the most educationally underserved in the entire state and Midwest. Despite the challenges that our students face, we are experiencing unprecedented results. With the support of KIPP Forward, which assists students on their journey to college or career, we anticipate a high school graduation rate of 90%, as compared to the national average of 70% for all students from underresourced communities.
