Keep New Orleans Music Alive

A nonprofit organization

Keep NOLA Music Alive assists in sustaining New Orleans culture by providing emergency aid to native musicians and culture bearers. In addition to partnering with established outreach organizations, we are providing access to health services and total well being.

The COVID-19 pandemic had a severe and emotional impact on the artistic community. Founder Delfeayo Marsalis' father, New Orleans jazz icon Ellis Marsalis Jr. died due to complications from COVID-19 in 2020. Immediately following his death, a music store in his hometown posted a sign to celebrate his legacy that read "We love you Mr. Ellis Marsalis, thank you for keeping NOLA Music Alive." Shortly thereafter and to celebrate his father's legacy, Delfeayo founded Keep New Orleans Music Alive (KNOMA) to provide emergency relief to native New Orleans culture bearers and their families.

"We can no longer take for granted the brass bands on corners, the street musicians in Jackson Square, and the players in our clubs who perform with the joy and celebration that millions of visitors equate with the Big Easy," says Marsalis. "We have to keep our music, the heart of New Orleans, beating for generations to come!"

New Orleans culture provides a form of both healing and recovery. Your tax-deductible donation will support the myriad musicians who have brought you exciting performances, unique collaborations and heart-felt tributes over the years.

Thank you in advance for yoursupport!
