A Kitty's Purrsuit of Happiness is a veteran-founded and operated, no-kill emergency rescue organization dedicated to saving the most vulnerable animals in our community. While cats—the most abandoned pets—are our primary focus, we never turn our backs on any animal in need. 99% of our rescues come directly from the streets, made possible through our relentless street outreach efforts. The urgency of our mission cannot be overstated. 

Every single penny of your gift goes straight to the cats: food for empty bellies, medicine for the sick ones, surgeries that save lives, spaying and neutering to prevent more suffering, vaccines to keep them healthy, and the equipment we need to safely rescue cats in tough situations. Your donation also helps us care for our special needs cats who need extra love and attention, plus supports the community cats living safely in our managed colonies.

When you choose to help these cats, these are the ones that so many people overlook or turn away from. These aren't the fluffy kittens that get adopted quickly. These are the emaciated, the abandoned ones, the unwanted elderly ones, the sick and injured ones, the feral ones—who just need someone to give a damn.

Give a damn. When you do, you'll be saving lives and preventing suffering. Life changes are never an excuse to leave your pet behind; they rely on you completely. Who We Are

Veteran based Emergency Rescue & Sanctuary dedicated to Special Needs Cats and Kittens, including community cats, stray cats, homeless cats, feral cats, unadoptable cats, senior cats, blind cats, injured cats including head injuries and spinal injuries, cats with a disability such an amputee cat, shelter cats, kitties with epilepsy, stomatitis, heart, kidney and liver disease, terminally ill hospice cats such as cancer, leukemia, and lymphoma, yes, ALL kitties! We wish people wouldn't consider black cats, tuxedo cats, tabby cats, pregnant and sick cats hard to adopt! Not all people like long hair Persian cats! We also spay, neuter, and network to help all animals along with dogs and wildlife primarily in the San Antonio and surrounding areas, Bexar, Kendall, and Comal counties. KPOH has an indoor exclusive cat only sanctuary for cats rescued off the streets and dangerous situations. Unfortunately, most abandoned cats suffer from PTSD, hunger, abuse, and trauma therefore, do not do well in traditional animal shelters. Please adopt a special needs kitty, these felines deserve a chance, as do all animals! A Kitty's Purrsuit of Happiness also transports cats for adoption to their forever homes, as well as trap neuter release (TNR) cats in safe areas. We also have a youth program "Kiddies Helping Kitties" which provides children with an education of animal welfare, how to become avid animal caregivers and an entrepreneur by learning how to fundraise to help animals with food and shelter. A Kitty's Purrsuit of Happiness was founded by a Reiki Practitioner and her husband, who is a Army Veteran.
