Now in its seventh season, Krewe de Voix was founded in the summer of 2016 by members of two professional church choirs who wanted to explore the great vocal works of the Renaissance and Baroque. An all-professional ensemble of 12-16 singers, Krewe de Voix's recent programs have included a collaborative concert of Spanish Colonial music with the Historic New Orleans Collection, Vivaldi's Gloria, the music of Tudor England, the motets of Monteverdi, and French Baroque Music of Colonial New Orleans. Our 2017 performance of Book of Saints at Marigny Opera House with the Marigny Opera Ballet and New Resonance Orchestra won two Gambit Awards, and we have been engaged for performances on local concert series' and the 2018 winter conference of the Church Music Association of America. Dedicated to making our music accessible to everyone in our community, Krewe de Voix does not charge admission, but relies on the enthusiastic support of our audiences and donors.
"Krewe de Voix is a stunning ensemble. We've been very lucky to have had them perform with the Marigny Opera Ballet, in Book of Saints, and I'm hoping to have them back as soon as possible."
-Dave Hurlbert, Executive Director, Marigny Opera House, New Orleans
"Krewe de Voix is a superb choir. Rarely does one encounter a group with such flawless intonation and ensemble character. More rarely still is such prodigious technique paired with outstanding musicality and truly innovative programming. Krewe de Voix and Paul Weber are treasures not only for New Orleans but for the entire choral and musical community."
-Nicholas Will, Director of Liturgical Music, The Pontifical North American College, Rome
"I was deeply impressed with the high artistic level of the group, the vocal quality of the singers, and the exquisite programming of some music which is rarely heard. Often it takes years to establish an ensemble of this quality. However, Dr. Weber, an excellent performer and formidable scholar, has worked miracles in such a short time. The concert was well presented and received, and I spoke with many audience members who all shared the same positive feelings I had.
The city of New Orleans, rich in history and culture, is truly blessed to have an ensemble like Krewe de Voix and Dr. Paul Weber in their midst. They enrich the musical life of the city, the region, and the Early Music world in this country. I shall follow their artistic endeavors and look forward to hearing them again in the near future."
-Dr. Horst Buchholz, Director of Sacred Music, Cathedral & Archdiocese of Detroit, MI, Artistic Director & Conductor, ProArte Saint Louis
