The Lansdowne Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) is committed to fostering a sustainable and thriving economy in the Borough of Lansdowne through strategic community and economic development initiatives.



The LEDC's programming is designed to stimulate the local community and foster the health and wellbeing of Lansdowne's residents. The LEDC enhances this historic Borough and diverse community by:




  • Supporting and Empowering Local Creative Entrepreneurs Offering workshops, professional development opportunities, fellowships, and collaborative projects with the community.

  • Growing a Healthy Community Operating a farmers market to provide fresh, healthy food options, as well as supporting small, local businesses in the central business district, creating a space for community gathering and connection.

  • Engaging the Public Through Art Facilitating public art installations, exhibitions, and cultural programming that connect people and enrich the local culture.


What We Do 


Supporting and Empowering Local Creative Entrepreneurs



Utility Works is the LEDC's 7,500 sq. ft. building located on Baltimore Ave. which houses 23 artist studios, a co-working area, MakerSpace, a community ceramics studio, art gallery, and the locally-owned Kay Way Juice bar.  



Skill-Based Education is offered through the membership-based MakerSpace which provides low-cost access to equipment, workspace, and professional development for artists, makers, entrepreneurs, the wider community. Sliding-scale workshops are led by professional art educators to train members and guests on the available equipment, such as laser cutter, a 3-D printer, and a sublimation printer.



MakerSpace Fellowships are one-year memberships awarded to budding designers who are 18 - 25 years old, live within a 3 mile radius, and are interested in the intersection of fashion, identity, technology, and entrepreneurship.




Growing a Healthy Community 



Lansdowne Farmers Market is an outdoor market with local produce, baked goods, specialty food, and crafts. It operates weekly on Saturdays throughout the summer and monthly the rest of the year. Each market day is features live music, family-friendly activities, and a rotating “Artist of the Week” and “Musician of the Week” to highlight Lansdowne’s creative talent!


Small business support has always been a cornerstone of the LEDC. LEDC helps welcome all prospective small businesses to the area by introducing them to area building owners, assisting them in navigating the permit process and providing assistance with grant applications.



Engaging the Public Through Art



The Arts on the Avenue Festival is a daylong, family-friendly celebration reflecting the LEDC’s dedication to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and equitable community through the arts. For 23 years, this festival has showcased over 50 artist vendors each year plus food trucks, live music, and community art activities.



A Bit of the Arts is a two-day winter holiday festival held on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday in the historic 20th Century Club. The event includes about 40 artist vendors, live performances from local musicians, and welcomes roughly 2,000 attendees annually.



20*20 House is gallery and events venue curated by the LEDC’s Art Committee, a group comprised of local artists, residents, and entrepreneurs. 20*20 House exhibitions focus on reflecting local underserved communities to ensure equitable opportunities access and experience the arts.
