The Legacy Arts Project Inc

The mission of the Legacy Arts Project, Inc. is to preserve the history and traditions of African art as represented throughout the Diaspora through performance, education, and interaction.

DanceAfrica: Pittsburgh 2016, 'The Healing Continues', is the fifth annual performance that the LAP has hosted. As a part of the national network of DanceAfrica performances, the LAP will be bringing the HaitiDansCo from Jacmel, Haiti as the feature performers. Additionally, local performances take place by the Balafon West African Dance Ensemble, Hill Dance Academy Theater, and the Legacy Arts Project.

The Legacy Arts Project continues to develop its programming and extend its reach into the Greater Pittsburgh community, providing progressive cultural arts enrichment that empowers youth and the community to strive towards their potential. Consisting of intergenerational community art classes, after school programs within neighboring districts, on-site and partner-based summer arts programming, and signature annual events, such as Keepers of the Flame and Dance Africa, Legacy works to preserve African and African influenced arts throughout the world.
