Lifting Up STL

It is our mission to provide a helping hand through guidance and education while also administering services and support to individuals and families in the St. Louis community. We firmly believe that an individual’s quality of life directly affects their relationships, their career, and their community. When your home is unstable, or your mode of transportation is unreliable, it’s more difficult to maintain or be productive at work. Unstable work leads to unstable finances–thus completing the vicious circle–and back to an even more unstable home life. And in obvious ways, struggling to keep a job and a stable home have adverse effects on families and communities.

Lifting Up STL aims to guide individuals toward life-long, sustainable change by providing (or referring to) resources, mentors, educational programs, and when needed, temporary assistance to help build confidence, fuel a feeling of accomplishment, and put positive change within reach. 

Since our organization’s founding, we have heard from many in the St. Louis region and worked directly with individuals and families, and have come to understand that the greatest needs for those experiencing hardship are employment, housing, transportation, and childcare, all necessary to be productive members of the community. By honing in on these needs, we feel strongly that we are putting our efforts toward action that can inspire real change. By temporarily–or permanently–relieving these stressors,  individuals who work with Lifting Up STL can channel their energy toward vital things like stabilizing their income or prioritizing the mental/physical well-being of themselves or loved ones.

Our assistance is not a handout; individuals who work with us have to possess a true willingness to work toward independence and self-reliance. But by providing a helping hand, we can help alleviate some of the often unbearable stress felt by those who are struggling in our region, doing our part to build better quality of life, stronger families, and more thriving communities.
