Lincoln County CASA

Lincoln County CASA recruits, trains, supports, and retains Volunteer Advocates who represent the interests and well-being of abused and neglected children in our Foster Care system. Through individual participation with the child and parties to the case, our Advocates work to decrease the time a child spends in out-of-home placement, speaks to the wishes and needs of the child, while promoting safety and permanency to avoid unnecessary delays in case resolution.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) plays a vital role in supporting children in Lincoln County who are removed from their homes due to alleged abuse and neglect. These removals are based on findings by state and county attorneys, who determine that the children's homes are no longer safe. While in foster care, children often face instability due to frequent changes in case workers, service providers, and attorneys. CASA volunteers provide a constant, ensuring these children have a stable advocate fighting for safe, permanent homes.
Lincoln County CASA also runs "Kids Kloset," a service designed to help children removed from their homes by providing essentials. The items include car seats, clothing, toiletries, diapers, pajamas, socks, feminine hygiene products, comforting items like blankets or stuffed animals, and age-appropriate books and toys.
This initiative ensures that children's physical and emotional needs are met during an already traumatic time, offering immediate comfort and support.

As a volunteer advocate I have become very close with the children that I am advocating on behalf of and have learned a great deal through my training about childhood trauma and the long term effects. I attend team meetings, go to court, visit with the children in their foster homes every month. I also communicate with the professionals in the case any information that the children share with me. This helps the team to insure that the children's needs are being addressed and met.
