Little Haiti BK is a Haven for Haitian and Caribbean Culture

In 2018, Little Haiti BK (LHBK), a 501(c)3 not for profit organization, was created to preserve and promote Haitian and Caribbean heritage in the Little Haiti BK community of East Flatbush Brooklyn community.  LHBK provides a vital space for cultural expression, community solidarity and advocacy; and supporting local Caribbean businesses and cultural customs/celebrations.  Our mission is the build a vibrant, inclusive community that celebrates Haitian culture and provides resources, support, beautification and advocacy for residents and businesses.  We empower our neighborhood through programs, partnerships and events.

OUR GOALS:


  • Cultural Preservation: Honoring and celebrating Haitian heritage.

  • Community Support: Providing resources, education, beautification, and connections for local residents.

  • Economic Empowerment:  Supporting small businesses and promoting economic growth int he Little Haiti business district.

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES:



  • Community Events and Cultural Celebrations:  Throughout the year, LHBK celebrates Haitian and Caribbean heritage through annual festivals, art exhibits, and cultural gatherings that bring out community together.  These events have included:  Jean-Jaques Dessalines Day, Soup Joumou, Little Haiti BK Takes Broadway, Mural Unveiling.


  • Business Support and Resources: LHBK empowers local entrepreneurs and small businesses with workshops, networking opportunities, and access to resources that drive economic growth.  Workshops provided in partnership with Pace University and Small Business Services; Merchant Mixers for local Little Haiti BK merchants; and BID Formation on Little Haiti Business Corridor.


  • Advocacy and Community Development:  Working with local leaders, LHBK advocates for the rights of our residents and resources for community improvements, neighborhood beautification and fostering a thriving neighborhood.  We have successfully partnered with the Civic Engagement Commission to promote Voter Education. Partnered with Haitian Studies Association 36th Annual Conference. Hosted A Greener Little Haiti BK Paint and Planting Event and coordinated Konbit Block Clean Ups in Little Haiti BK business district corridor.
