Living Stones

Living Stones exists to invite neighbors to the table, where we strive to holistically uplift them through meals, programs, and services that meet their needs and exemplify the love of Christ.

Our core initiatives include:
- A hot, sit-down buffet on four Sundays each month.
- A monthly lunch for individuals struggling with substance use disorder.
- My Monday Thing!-a monthly event where guests enjoy a free breakfast and lunch, haircuts, access to a well-stocked clothing closet, and crafts.
During each program, our dedicated Community Health Worker assists participants in accessing essential resources like housing, healthcare, and other basic needs.

Living Stones is more than a meal program-it's a ministry built on the power of community. Our work begins by rescuing surplus food from accredited institutions that would otherwise go to waste, transforming it into nourishing meals, and creating a welcoming space where people can share not just food, but meaningful relationships.

In Pittsburgh, 60,000 people face food insecurity, while nearly half of the population lives alone, making it the sixth loneliest city in the country. At Living Stones, we recognize that food is not just about sustenance-it's about togetherness. Living Stones stands at the crossroads of these needs, providing a place where every person who walks through our doors is met with dignity and belonging.

From Deborah, a mother who has taken several adult special needs individuals into her home and comes to our meals ..."I felt welcome and loved the minute I walked into our first meal," remembers Deborah. "These are some of the kindest, most caring people I know. They said they would pray for us, and I know they do. I can feel their prayers and never hesitate to ask when I have a specific request. The food's important, too, of course, and taking leftovers home is a huge blessing, especially when I just don't have time to cook. But it's the fellowship and love we find there that matter most. Attending these meals is the only time we get out together as a family - usually six or seven of us.
