Louisville Girls Leadership

Louisville Girls Leadership was formed by an unmet need of programs that did not serve specifically girls in the late 90s. Our mission is to inspire high school girls to step into their power and become the leaders we already know they are. Throughout our program, students have a chance to amplify their societal impact in our community and beyond while also understanding how their impact can make them think locally, but act globally.

LGL gives girls a space where they can acquire the resources and build the relationships they need to reach their full leadership potential. Program participants choose the curriculum each year, allowing them to put their leadership skills into practice. This creates a wholly unique experience that is girl-run, girl-led, and always relevant to the issues today’s girls find most salient.

Members of Louisville Girls Leadership are passionate about creating innovative and creative solutions to Louisville's most pressing problems. LGL supplements this passion by providing access to invaluable tools to develop participants into multidimensional leaders to help accomplish their dreams.

Girls who graduate from LGL report increased self-confidence, improved public speaking skills, a greater understanding of the issues facing girls and women in Louisville and beyond, and a new peer group that stretches across ZIP codes, high schools, and neighborhoods. Alumnae go on to become engaged, informed citizens who run for student government, champion philanthropic causes they care about, and mentor other teens.
