$2,000 Goal

Looking for a fun and easy way to get moving, hear great music, and meet new people all at the same time? Try contra dancing!

Louisville Country Dancers is an inter-generational community built around the enjoyment of English and American dance and music, primarily contra dance. We host contra dances every Monday night and on the third Saturday of each month. No experience or partner is required. Each night, we hold a beginner lesson at 7:30 at no extra cost and welcome dancers of all skill levels and backgrounds. Contra is easy to learn. There is no footwork, and the evening is led by a caller who teaches each dance.

We have live music at every dance we hold. Our community open volunteer band The Monday Night All-Stars takes the stage most nights. On Saturdays, we pull in bands and callers from throughout the region.

LCD has been hosting dances for the past 50 years. Before the Pandemic hit in 2020 we would average 70-100 dancers attending regularly. Since we returned to in person dancing the summer of 2022, our attendance has been slowly recovering back up to those levels, but it's not there yet. This has made it harder to cover the expenses of putting on our dance. We appreciate your contribution to help us provide a community space where all are welcome to learn, dance, and have fun.

Last year, you all generously raised $1000, carrying us through the remainder of the year. This year, we ramped up our social media presence and aim to double that goal. Our dance floor is in need of refinishing, and anything you give will help us offset that cost. Thank you for your support!
