League of Women Voters of Metro St. Louis

A nonprofit organization

The League of Women Voters of Metro St. Louis educates and empowers citizens in seven counties. We're proud of our work to help Missouri voters cast an informed ballot each election.

  • In just the first quarter of 2024, LWVSTL volunteers helped almost 1,200 people register to vote (including 607 new citizens and almost 500 youth).
  • More than two dozen Speakers Bureau presentations reached nearly 300 audience members.
  • We moderated 10 Candidate Forums before the April municipal elections.
  • For the Voters Guide posted on VOTE411.org and published in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, we reached out to 680 candidates for school board, mayor, city council and other local offices and summarized 78 ballot issues. The Sunday paper has 85,000 subscribers and we distributed an additional 10,000 copies.
  • Our Get-Out-the-Vote team talked with 23 different organizations about possible collaborations. Members handwrote 2,500 postcards to send to unlikely voters in North St. Louis County and used text messages to remind 1,750 voters to cast a ballot in local elections.

Our League was founded in November 1919, almost a year before the 19th Amendment was ratified in August 1920. Membership is open to men and women over the age of 16.
