A Mother's Voice - A special project that allows incarcerated mothers to record stories for their children.Parenting Classes and Family Strengthening Services - We teach parenting classes both in the Allegheny County Jail and in our Uptown offices for incarcerated or recently released women. Our classes are based on both the Nurturing Parenting Curriculum and the Parenting Inside/Out Program developed by the Children's Justice Alliance of Portland, Oregon. Our classes emphasize child development, empathy, positive discipline, and imprisoned parents' legal rights and responsibilities towards their children. Our staff also help mothers reunite with their children and help them negotiate the public, child welfare system. Prenatal Classes - Weekly classes for pregnant inmates. Includes information on nutrition, exercise, body changes, labor and delivery, and basic infant care.
