Our singular goal is to provide adaptive bikes to children with spina bifida, cerebral palsy, Battens Disease, Charge Syndrome, Down Syndrome and chromosomal abnormalities of every description. These bikes help the children build critical core strength as well as confidence and inclusion.
The foundation has provided over 250 bikes in the last 10 years. These bikes range in cost from $800 to over $5,000, and they are not covered by insurance companies. The demand for these bikes is endless. We currently have over 200 children on our waiting list. Our immediate goal is to get each of these children riding their own adaptive bike as soon as possible.
100% OF ALL funds raised are used to purchase these adaptive bikes, which the foundation purchases at significant discount from the bike manufacturers. All donations are tax deductible. Once a child outgrows a bike, the foundation picks it up, cleans it up and gets the bike into the hands of another deserving child. The foundation then provides a new, larger bike to the first child to keep them riding. (We have bikes on their fourth child and many children on their second bike.)
WHAT STARTED OUT 10 years ago as a "Bikes for Christmas" project quickly turned into a yearround endeavor. All of our funding comes from individuals and corporations who are passionate about seeing these special children experience the right of passage of every child- riding their own bike. Groups including schools, health clubs, car dealerships, groups of friends, etc. have joined together to fund a bike for a child. Many bike presentations have been made at the place of business of the donor groups making for a very special charitable event. Donations can be made in honor or memory of a loved one or directed to a specific family in need of an adaptive bike.
"My son, Camden, was blessed with a bike from the foundation approximately two years ago. It actually came right before Christmas and it was "the best gift of all" in my son's own words. He asked for a bike for many years and I was unable to afford one for him. As you know, insurance will not cover adaptive bikes, at least here in Florida. When I was alerted to your foundation from a news special on TV I reached out to you and was greeted with the kindest people I've ever met. The application process was user friendly and shortly there after my son was approved for a bike.
This special gift has given my son freedom to ride a bike, get much needed exercise, strengthening, and range of motion. What some people don't understand is, this isn't just a form of outdoor entertainment, it's actually a benefit mentally and physically for people who have disabilities. Camden can ride just like everyone else and smiles the whole time he's on it. I am in total awe at the kindness of the donors to McLindon Family Foundation and forever grateful to donors and staff. My son has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and developmentally delayed and this bike has created a whole new world of opportunities for him physically and emotionally. He is more confident and can ride right along with anyone else. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and wish you all longevity and the drive to continue touching lives like you have my son's.
Thank you so much."

"Yay Brock! I wish everyone with the ability to donate knew what a huge impact this makes in a child's life. It's far more then fun. A bike opens the world of a child socially, mentally, strengthens physically, and gives such confidence and freedom! So much more! Every child deserves this!"

"My family cannot thank the McLindon Family Foundation enough for providing Brock an adaptive bike. They will continue to provide him a bike as he grows up. Brock is in the First Grade now and loves riding with the neighborhood kids. Please donate so that other children can have fun, strengthen their bodies and gain such independence. These kids face so many hurdles. For the time they ride their bikes, they get to become just a regular kid. This is priceless."

"My daughter received a bike from you just a couple of months ago. She had a regular bike that we bought at the store. It was really hard for her to pedal and she fell off the bike (that had training wheels). My daughter, Rafi has a condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa. It is a connective tissue disorder and the most common manifestation of it is very fragile skin. Needless to say, she was really banged up after her fall and never wanted to ride a bike again. It made her very sad as all her friends and peers were riding their bikes and she wanted to as well.
Then came your bike...
