Meals for Friends

A nonprofit organization

Meals for Friends seeks to improve the health and quality of life of the older adults and disabled in the communities it serves so that no one is left hungry or isolated.

Meals for Friends delivers hot meals and bagged lunches to more than 40 older adults and disabled citizens each week in Wilkins Township and its surrounding neighborhoods (Forest Hills, Chalfont, Churchill, and Penn Hills). Our team of volunteers prepares nutritious, freshly cooked comfort food on site. Meals for Friends is an independent, community-managed 501c3 that was founded in 2015 by a small group of community members to address the food insecurity and isolation of the older population in Wilkins Twp.

Today, more than 30 community members volunteer at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church each week to prepare, pack, and deliver meals. Volunteers visit clients and deliver meals Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and they look forward to visiting their clients and ensuring they see a friendly face at their door.

Testimonials

I have volunteered the last two years at Meals for Friends and I look forward to Monday mornings and spending time with the other volunteers and seeing the people on my route. It makes me feel good to serve fresh foods that taste good too. The best part (when we weren't in the middle of a pandemic) was getting my Monday morning hug from Betty. She makes my day!"
