Tri-County Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels of Palestine, Inc., d\b\a Tri-County Meals on Wheels strive to support the well-being of our older adult population in extending their dignified independence and health as they age. Addressing their food insecurity and social isolation thru the provisions\delivery of nutritious meals, companionship, wellness checks and wholesome educational life enriching activities. It is Not Just a Meal. It's more than just a Meal.

Meals on Wheels of Palestine, Inc. has been in existence since 1976 and is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. We serve a three-county area (Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk) throughout the East Texas area. We cover over 3078 sq miles in the 3 counties. We prepare and deliver home-delivered meals to seniors and 5 days a week Monday-Friday. To be eligible for home-delivered meals one must be 60 or older, homebound, unable to prepare their meals and not have someone who can prepare them for them. We also have an on-site meal program which is open to all persons 60 and older without regard to income, frailty, disability, race or religious beliefs. Meals on Wheels of Palestine prepare and delivered over 600 hot meals daily Monday-Friday. These meals reach our most vulnerable, food insecure seniors. The meals provide 1/3 of the recommended daily dietary requirements for seniors. For many clients, it is their only meal of the day.

We recently started a Veterans breakfast the 3rd Thursday of the month. We strive to help those who have given so much for us.

We have on site classes such as clogging, square dance lessons. and domino game days. Once a month we have a dance

On January 2024, I had half a can of mushroom soup and 2 slices of bread. A cold front was predicted. The only store where I could walk for bread, milk, etc. had closed. As I had no means to get food. I was so scared! Was I going to starve or get so weak and fall. By chance, I saw a Meals on Wheels commercial. I am an 89 year old widow with no family or support - no one to check on me. I needed your services. A phone call put me back on a positive track. I am now back on a healthy road with nourishing meals 5 days a week. The people who deliver are angels. It's a relief to know I have someone to be sure I'm ok.
