The Middle East Research and Information Project has been supporting critical research and reporting on the Middle East since 1971. We work closely with academics, journalists, analysts and policy professionals to provide rigorous, research-based insight on politics, economy, and culture across the Middle East through our flagship publication, Middle East Report, special reports in Middle East Report Online, special educational primers on key issues for K-16 audiences, public events, and workshops for professionals. As of 2020, we became a donor-centered organization, with no paywalls for our content, including the entirety of our text-archive, going back over 50 years. Our archive is a special resource that features some of the only openly accessible English language sources on political, press, and intellectual history from the Middle East in that period.
We relocated to Havertown, PA in 2024 and are excited to work with local communities and partners on new projects to deepen local engagement, awareness, and education on a range of issues related to the Middle East. At MERIP we care deeply about the cause of democracy and justice in the region, and believe that education and awareness in the United States is crucial to progress in these areas. We are also deeply committed to bringing our audiences clearly written, accessible articles that translate very complex issues for a broad public. In the last year, we have begun working with local partners in Delaware county, including our great universities and colleges, to enhance writing and publishing skills for faculty, students, policy researchers and journalists so that they can more easily bring their insights to the public in MERIP's pages and in the wider world of the press. We have also started an online event series highlighting the work featured in Middle East Report, and are developing in-person events in collaboration with local educational institutions and bookstores. This summer, we hope to launch our very first podcast, which will feature wide ranging discussions with our authors, both regarding our recent work, and the history of our organization.
We are thrilled to be participating in Delco Gives, and eager to connect with new audiences and supporters here in Delco. We hope to see you at our events and at Delco gives events very soon!
