The Midwife Center

The Midwife Center promotes wellness by providing exceptional, client-centered primary gynecological, pregnancy and birthing care in southwestern Pennsylvania's only independent birth center.

Since 1982, the certified nurse-midwives, nurse practitioners, and nurses of The Midwife Center have cared for thousands of clients and their families. Our providers take care of clients of all ages, and provide accessible, inclusive, affordable primary gynecological care, prenatal care, childbirth care, behavioral health and wellness, breastfeeding support, and more. TMC is licensed with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and is nationally accredited with the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers (CABC).

The Midwife Center accepts most private and public insurance. With community support, we offer a sliding scale and no-cost care for primary gynecological care, prenatal care, and childbirth services to individuals without insurance or who don't qualify for Medical Assistance. Our building is accessible and we offer language & interpretation services.

Our programs offer personalized, accessible, time-intensive, inclusive, and evidence-based care based on the needs of our clients and their families. This approach helps us achieve significantly better health outcomes compared to national statistics and directly improve health outcomes in our region.
