We use funding to assist the Mines of Spain Recreation Area by funding education and preservation of the areas history and natural landmarks. We have used funds from previous Great Give Days to create a scholarship fund that schools can receive a scholarship to pay for buses to get children out into nature and educate them on the history of the area and importance of protecting our natural resources. Goals: Support the decisions at the Mines of Spain, Inform the public about the benefits of the Mines of Spain, Assist park by volunteering, Locate funding and materials for projects, Encourage others to enjoy the Mines of Spain, Assist in educational programs.

We look to support updates to trail system which boast over 21 miles of trails from a handicap accessible paved trail to a 5 mile trail that goes through a forest and prairie. We are working to help tell the Native American Story of the area and teach about the many Native American burial mounds in the park.

Testimonials

Beth W. from Facebook reviews - Looove it! We got there kind of late in the day, but what my husband and I saw, we love and want to come back and explore more!! We love hiking and love the fact there's trails in the woods on top of history to discover in them! If you aren't able to hike dirt trails they also have paved trails as well! There's a little something for everyone! It brought out the explorer within, that is always longing to get out! Can't wait to go back!!
