Gardening… It’s a popular hobby with a beautiful result – but did you know it also comes with significant sensory benefits for all ages?

All gifts made in support of Miriam on Give STL Day will help to cultivate a sensory garden at Miriam High School in Olivette. This garden will become a vital part of our programming, as it will improve mood, health, and cognitive behaviors. For students with learning differences, a sensory garden can be very therapeutic in providing a calming space while gently stimulating their senses. The garden will also provide a buffer to the varied challenges a unique learner encounters daily.

We've already installed outdoor swings, and we have raised additional money for the sensory garden. Your support will help us reach our goal and make the therapeutic garden a reality.

Miriam School and Learning Center has a proud legacy of helping students with learning challenges find support and success. Through its programs, Miriam School (grades K-12) and Miriam Learning Center, Miriam annually reaches more than 1,600 unique learners in the St. Louis region. We identify a child's needs, work within their strengths, and provide solutions. Miriam educates students who have learning differences such as learning disabilities, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, language disorders, anxiety and autism spectrum disorder. We provide an individualized curriculum, integrated speech and occupational therapies, and a welcoming, inclusive environment.
