Missouri Gateway Green Building Council works to connect people, places and planet for a healthier and greener future.
We are a green building community of practitioners and advocates that gives voice to a commitment to improve human health, support economies, and protect the environment through green buildings. We educate and advocate for proven and emerging issues and ideas in green building & sustainability.
Buildings are important because they affect the health and well-being of those who live, work and learn in them. Better indoor air quality, improved energy efficiency, and natural resource protection: these are some of the benefits of green building that we champion on behalf of all people throughout the region. Our volunteers and staff work with members, sponsors, partners and the community to advance the quality of life in our region - educating about green building, advocating for healthier environments and establishing lasting partnerships to improve our built environment. Missouri Gateway Green Building Council, your resource for green buildings in Missouri and Southern Illinois, works to make the vision of healthy and efficient buildings a reality for all through the following programs and more!
Every day we witness the dramatic effects of climate change. Since buildings represent 40% of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States it is critical to continue our education and advocacy work emphasizing the importance of the design, construction, operations, and maintenance of ALL buildings to leverage greenhouse gas reduction opportunities.

Show-Me Green Schools is a suite of three free programs co-managed with the Missouri Environmental Education Association that provides structure, resources and recognition to support every Missouri PreK-12 school in becoming a green school - no matter their starting place. Show-Me Green Schools envisions a future where all Missouri schools are places that promote equitable and sustainable environments that ensure the overall health and well-being of their community. |
Green Building Leaders of the Future We engage young professionals and individuals new to the green building field into our green building community through community service events, monthly happy hours, and the opportunity to network with seasoned green professionals. |
Building Energy Exchange - St. Louis was launched in 2022 to connect the people who make decisions for buildings with resources to create more comfortable places to live, work, learn, and play while saving money and adding value. BE-Ex STL works with building owners, facility managers & staff, builders & designers, and occupants & tenants to equip them with tools and resources to understand, evaluate, communicate about, and fund facility improvements for far-reaching benefits. |
