Monadnock Area Transitional Shelter - A Home for People in Transition

Now, in our
34th year of service to those experiencing homelessness in the Monadnock
region, MATS continues to help those seeking shelter during difficult times.
MATS provides participants with assistance and countless resources regarding
employment, affordable housing applications, education, budgeting,
transportation, healthcare, childcare, and legal services during their stay.

Rural
Homelessness:

Living in a
rural area such as the Monadnock region, people who are experiencing homelessness
frequently go unnoticed. The hidden homeless, as they’re sometimes called,
don’t live on the streets as in urban areas; instead, they live with friends or
family, move from place to place, or sleep in cars, tents, or the woods, out of
sight.

How you can
help:

Donations to
the shelter have made our work possible since 1991, and they will continue to
sustain our efforts on behalf of those who need shelter in the greater
Monadnock region. As a private, non-profit organization, MATS relies solely on
private donations from individuals, businesses, churches, or organizations; we
also apply for and receive grants each year. We do not receive any state or
federal funding.

Our Mission:

The mission
of MATS is to provide transitional housing, support and referral services to
people who are experiencing homelessness; to educate our community on the
issues of homelessness; and to advocate for solutions.

MATS is a
registered, private non-profit 501(c)(3). Our funding comes entirely from
donations from area churches, businesses, service organizations, grants and
private citizens like you.

Please help
us reach our goal of $20,000.
