Musculoskeletal Orthopedic Research and Education (MORE) Foundation

A nonprofit organization

Empowering individuals to Keep Life in Motion® through innovative research, community education and charitable assistance.

MORE Foundation envisions a World Full of Active People. Whether it is providing custom made free prosthetics to children in need, transporting veterans to their medical appointments, researching new treatments to improve mobility or teaching the next generation of healthcare professionals - MORE Foundation's goal is to Keep Life in Motion!

The Foundation accomplishes its mission and vision through its three pillars; Research, Education, and Charitable Assistance Programs.

• MORE Foundation operates a world class research facility out of its Phoenix headquarters. The facility includes a biomechanics laboratory with advanced robotic testing systems, a human motion laboratory to measure how people move with a variety of medical conditions and treatments, and a clinical research program to measure how different treatments improve the lives of patients. Together these research programs are dedicated to advancing the standard of care for orthopedic medical conditions. The biomechanics facility and team also supports the manufacture of free prosthetic hands (Helping Hands) for children using our 3-D printer.

• Our Veterans Transportation Assistance Program (V-Tap) has provided over 1,500 medical transportation rides to veterans, since its inception in late 2015. These rides benefit veterans who are unable to access safe and reliable transportation to crucial medical appointments across Maricopa county.

• Our Helping Hands Program leverages the 3-D printing revolution to create free prosthetic hands for children in need. Our first prosthetic hand was gifted to a child for Christmas in 2017 (https://more-foundation.org/helping-hands-stories/) and was featured on the cover of the Arizona Republic on Christmas morning and broadcast by national media outlets- please click on our Programs tab for more information.

Our custom-made prosthetics have been created in all shapes and sizes, including Wonder Woman, Spider-Man and a Storm Trooper hand. These prosthetics instill confidence and improve function for these amazing kids.

Since children grow and develop rapidly, and prosthetic hands can be very expensive, the cost of providing traditional prosthetics to a growing child can easily exceed $100,000. For this reason, insurance companies frequently deny coverage for children's prostheses, leaving families to pay out or pocket or, more commonly, children to go without prosthetics for years. Coupled with the number of uninsured children that cannot afford prostheses, there is a great need for assistance in this area.

• MORE Foundation is also an accredited medical education (CME) provider by the Arizona Medical Association (ArMA). Our programs provide hundreds of hours of high quality medical education to physicians, physician assistants, nurses, physical therapists and athletic trainers each year.

Testimonials

Caryn, the mother of one of our helping hands recipients recently wrote us to say:

"Rumi has a newfound confidence. Our summer was really changed by our experience with MORE Foundation's Mermaid Swim Fin!"
"I'm not sure anyone could have predicted this exponential growth in Rumi. You will see for yourself!"
Thank you is very small compared to what Rumi has achieved for herself, and for her family. It's really been great for us. However, there doesn't seem to be a better way to say...

THANK YOU!

Dr Paul Tornetta III, Director of Orthopaedic Trauma at Boston Medical Center and Vice Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery at Boston University School of Medicine says:

"I choose to partner with the MORE Foundation on biomechanical research projects and continue to be impressed by their research team, who are truly innovators in our field."
