Mostly Cockers & Poms

A nonprofit organization

We rescue Spaniels, Pomeranians and other Med to Small breeds. Our founding goal was to aide family's of deceased owners, or owners who go into assisted living, or lose their home. There was a definite need but no solution in the community previously to keep pets in these situations out of the county shelter. We also rescue from municipal run "kill" shelters. We operate solely on donations from the public - we have no corporate donors. We are a 501(c)3 IRS approved tax free entity.

Thanks to our efforts, we have been able to help lower the intake population at our local county shelter, and help beloved family pets avoid the added trauma, stress and disease exposure of that environment in a time where they have already lost their human family.

When we rescue pet from a shelter, we take each pet for a wellness check to verify if any treatments need to be started and the general overall health of the pet. Most times that pets that we rescue are on the "rescue list" or "euthanasia list" because they have contracted kennel cough, or another illness while at the facility. Or, are deemed to be older than desirable or have other wounds that prevent them from going up for general adoption. We get each pet treatment and get them on a good nutrition program to restore good overall health - we feed exclusively Earthborn Holistic which is a costly but high quality food. Many pets need surgical procedures ranging from teeth cleaning to broken bone setting, to extensive blood work & scans. Once each pet is healthy, they are spayed or neutered, receive all their booster and rabies shots, and are micro-chipped prior to be placed up for adoption. We house each of the pets in our own homes and utilize a few small group of volunteers that offer to foster our pets, thus providing them a stable and loving home environment to recuperate in. We keep our foster homes to a very low level to ensure constant personal interaction with fosters and pets through the process. We fully screen all potential adopters, and complete home visits as well. Once an adoption is completed, we follow up at repeated intervals with the new adopters to make sure that things are going smoothly and any potential issues can be addressed and additional training tips, etc. provided if needed. Thus, our return rate is thus far non-existent.
