Mountain School

Mountain School is a public charter elementary serving grades K-5. Children are encouraged to develop, achieve, and celebrate their academic goals with the support and guidance of teachers and parents, thus creating a community that nurtures the child's individuality and instills social responsibility.

Mountain School has adopted a program that meets the language arts needs of all students, called Walk To Read. Three days per week, forty-five minutes per session, the students get targeted reading instruction, at their "just right" level. All staff participates by leading the groups based on reading ability. The students love being able to achieve at a high level during these strategic lessons.
Mountain School has a nationally recognized parent volunteer program, which allows parents to volunteer in the classrooms or do other tasks to help the school campus-wide. The result is a school community that thrives because of the partnership with the parents during the day-to-day operation of the school. Most years, the parents log a total of 6000 volunteer hours. The presence of the parents on campus has a positive effect of the students, who benefit from more individualized instruction.
