NAMI New Hampshire

NAMI New Hampshire (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a grassroots organization working to improve the lives of all people affected by mental illness and suicide through support, education, and advocacy. From our humble beginnings at Peggy Straw’s kitchen table in an effort to help six hurting families to serving over 50,000 individuals and families today, NAMI NH has provided help and hope to Granite Staters affected by mental illness and suicide for over four decades.  At NAMI NH, we envision a future where people affected by mental illness have hope, help, and health, and are able to:

• Access the supports and evidence-based treatment necessary for recovery;


• Have a lifespan that is not cut short by suicide or co-occurring conditions; and


• Reach their full potential, living in their communities free from discrimination.

Preventing suicide and improving the mental health of Granite Staters of all ages will take our combined efforts.  Whether folks are joining a support group for the first time, attending one of our free education programs, or stepping onto the field to stomp out stigma at NAMIWalks NH, your support helps them know they are never alone.  Together, we passionately advocate for better services for our loved ones, we relentlessly raise our voices to decrease the stigma and discrimination that persists even today, and we consistently unite in hope to ensure Granite Staters affected by mental illness and suicide find help in their darkest days.

Who We Are

NAMI NH is a grassroots organization of and for people of all ages, their families and friends who are affected by mental illness.

We believe that people with mental illness or emotional disorders and their families should have insurance coverage and access to comprehensive, integrated health care and community-based supports without discrimination or stigma.

Through NAMI NH, you'll meet other individuals and family members who have struggled with mental illness. We come together, in a safe and comfortable setting, to share each other's pain, promote hope and build a better tomorrow for our loved ones and ourselves.
