National Black MBA Assocation St Louis Chapter

A nonprofit organization

The St. Louis Chapter is a growing professional non-profit organization that works with local organizations, universities, and other nonprofit partners to enhance the economic growth of knowledge, business skills, and employment opportunities for African Americans and other minorities.

The organization creates innovative rich programming centered on the five pillars: Education, Career Development, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Lifestyle/Community.

Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) mentoring program for high school students grades 9-12 is designed to prepare our students to be the next generation of leaders. Students engage in mentoring across four developmental areas: Leadership, Financial Literacy, College Preparation, and Career Preparation. The program offers participants resources, knowledge, and opportunities in the way of mentoring relationships, scholarships, and preparation for a collegiate case competition. For the past 16 years, the students have participated in the annual National Business Case Competition. The competition is designed to help the participants develop real-world critical thinking and problem-solving skills by addressing a business case study. Teams of participants work together to present a graduate-level business case to a panel of judges representing sponsored companies.

In recent years, the St. Louis Chapter has proven very successful in the competition. They took home the top prize in 2014. As a result, the team was awarded $15,000 in scholarships and each student received a grand prize trophy. Just last year, we returned to the winners' circle, receiving 3rd place and $5,000 in scholarships for the team's success.

This June the LOT team will compete at Texas Christian University in Dallas, TX. The Harvard Business Case centers on "Twitter" and the team has its sights on the championship!
