NB Housing Partners - First Footing Program

There is no price on human dignity and the security of having

a place to call home.

With the high cost of living in Comal County and the Greater New Braunfels area, more individuals and families struggle to make ends meet and have a safe place to sleep at night. When individual factors such as health conditions, a limited income, unreliable transportation, past trauma, or mental illness are also present, anyone may reach a tipping point that leads to unstable housing situations, or even homelessness. 

We are committed to taking strategic steps that address both urgent housing crises as well as establishing housing opportunities at all income levels. Here is what we are doing:

 First Footing Program.: Our first step is offering people in need a safe place to stay and services that provide a hand up toward housing through safe shelter, employment assistance, income recovery, and supportive guidance. Targeted, healing and housing-focused case management are a key part of services provided.

Next Step Program:  We know housing is the key to long term security. Therefore, we help individuals with achieving stable housing and sustaining self-sufficiency as contributing members of our community.

HOME Team: We partner with medical and behavioral healthcare partners to bring health and hope for unhoused individuals who are surviving on the streets and not yet on the road to restored health, housing, and recovery. Our goal- attaining a home for all. 

Pathways Village: NB Housing Partners provides short-term housing for individuals that need additional guidance and a hand up to housing stability.

Our Community by the Numbers:

• From 2023 to 2024, the number of individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community increased by 64% and the number who were unsheltered tripled!


• The number of neighbors seeking help more than doubled in just two years!


• Our waiting list for shelter exceeded double the amount of our actual shelter capacity in 2024!
