In just 11 years, our unbiased, indepth reporting has made a real difference for New Hampshire. We are growing faster every day.
Paula Tracy and Garry Rayno cover the State House from every angle possible and all of the news that matters in New Hampshire along with reporters Damien Fisher, Katharine Webster, Nancy West and Zach Laird. Tracy, Rayno, West, Bob Charest, Roger Wood and editorial cartoonist Mike Marland have all been named Lifetime Achievement Award winners by the New Hampshire Press Association, along with a slew of other awards over the years. Our award winning writers Rayno, Wayne King, Michael Davidow, Susan Dromey Heeter, George Liset and Michael Ferber write on topics ranging from politics to thrift shopping and fly fishing. We have the very best journalists in the state and I am proud to work with them. We are proud and grateful this year to have a matching donation from the Katy Burns Local Journalism Fund to match the first $2,800 in NH Gives donations.
We are in the midst of a local news emergency in New Hampshire. Just pick up your local newspaper or watch the local newscast. Journalism in the Granite State is suffering from a lack of resources, staff power, and fresh ideas. We created the New Hampshire Center for Public Interest Journalism 11 years ago. We work to increase reporting that is expensive and time-consuming - the first stories to be left behind when there are too few reporters. Seventy-five percent of all news jobs in New Hampshire have been lost in the last 20 years. Once, the State House had a hopping press room. No more. But it is growing again as we continue to shine our news light on the State House, the powerful and news that truly matters in NH. With your help, we dig deeply into the stories that now often get published only via press release from those with something to gain or lose. InDepthNH.org is your future of local news in New Hampshire.
InDepthNH.org protects independent journalism that holds the powerful accountable to the people. Our investigative reporting prompts civil discourse that spurs citizens to action to reclaim their government. We reveal wrongdoing, corruption and influence-peddling while giving voice to the disenfranchised. InDepthNH.org fulfills the press’ watchdog role as envisioned by the founders of our democracy.
We give voice to marginalized people, places and ideas, and train the next generation of journalists. We share our original reporting for free with financially struggling newspapers and news outlets focusing on in-depth and investigative reporting. We to save all of the important news voices across the state. New Hampshire Center for Public Interest Journalism publishes InDepthNH.org online because we believe democracy is threatened without a vibrant press. We report news that fully informs citizens, encourages civil discourse along with meaningful action so people can be full partners in their democracy.
