New Hampshire Humanities (NH Humanities)

A nonprofit organization

$77,985 raised by 544 donors

Did you know that deep cuts to the National Endowment for the Humanities are threatening the humanities in New Hampshire?

Your gift will help ensure Granite Staters have access to the stories, history, and conversations that enrich our lives, strengthen our communities, and make our local economies vibrant. And - right now, every donation will be generously matched 1:1 by the Federation of State Humanities Councils with support from the Mellon Foundation! You can double your impact!

For 50 years, New Hampshire Humanities has been connecting people to culture, history, places, ideas, and one another.

We support local cultural and educational institutions by awarding grants for innovative educational and thought-provoking programs in all corners of New Hampshire. Through hundreds of free and low-cost programs every year, the tools of the humanities help inspire and create meaningful conversations that connect us to the world around us and to each other.

Cuts to our critical federal funding will force us to drastically reduce programming or eliminate grant making, leaving hundreds of New Hampshire libraries, schools, museums, and nonprofits that you and I value without essential support.

Please consider giving a gift and be a champion for the humanities in New Hampshire. The humanities help us make sense of our world and each other, strengthen communities, and work together to imagine our future.

Thank you for supporting both New Hampshire Humanities and the dedicated nonprofit community we are so proud to be a part of!

Who We Are

For more almost 50 years, New Hampshire Humanities has provided opportunities to cultivate curiosity, connect across cultures, examine beliefs, practice civility, strengthen community bonds, ignite ideas, inspire a passion for learning, and engage in civic life.

We bring the thrill of discovery and the power of ideas to people of all walks of life, from all corners of our state. We support local cultural and educational institutions during hard economic times by awarding grants for innovative educational programs and capacity-building.

We invite citizens to reason together, to learn from and listen to one another.

We offer teachers cost-effective, content-rich professional development that strengthens the teaching of the humanities in our schools, from civics to Native American history.

And we develop communities of readers, especially among those struggling with literacy and those new citizens just learning about their new culture and government.
