Over 21 years ago, New Hope Grief Support Community (New Hope) was founded to provide hope and healing to bereaved individuals, children, and their families through connection and support. Grief is a universal experience, but it is different for everyone. We believe that we suffer in isolation and find healing together in community. Over the years, New Hope has evolved into an array of quality grief peer-support programs, including our annual Family Camps, Family programming, support groups, and grief education.

New Hope has served hundreds of grieving adults, youth and their families through its programs. Programs provide a safe and supportive environment where bereaved children and their families explore their loss, strengthen relationships, and build support systems with other families touched by grief. Families learn to communicate and gain coping skills through a curriculum with culturally relevant activities that integrate peer support, the arts, wellness activities, memorialization of the deceased, and tons of family fun.

Bereavement is an urgent public health issue that is impacting our community, we've experienced a 52% increase in families seeking our services, especially our adult and family programs. To continue meeting the grief needs of our community we need your support.

Please help us reach our LB Gives goal of $5,000 by making a meaningful donation. Thank you for your continued support of our mission of bringing hope and healing into the lives of bereaved adults, children and families through connection & support.

Testimonials

"After the death of my wife, I felt alone and overwhelmed. I attended the New Hope Family Camp with my two children, the New Hope volunteers and staff at camp made us feel so welcomed. At camp I was part of a group of Dads who were widowed, this was the first time I got to connect with other Dads experiencing the same thoughts and feelings--I have never cried in the arms of grown men as much as I did at camp. This experience was very positive for me and my children, it gave us the hope we needed to move forward with our grief-journey." --Mr. Davis, Camp Dad

"Another student came to me after the first group meeting and expressed so much sadness for her own loss as well as so much empathy and sorrow for the loss of her peers. The facilitators led the students in an activity where they had to create a timeline that displays all of the losses experienced over the years. This student was impacted by the number of total losses that had been suffered by all 16 students in the group. She shared that many tears were shed during that first meeting and that she felt a genuine sense of community, support, and care. She loves the facilitators and the safe space they have built and that has been sustained over the past 4 weeks" - LBUSD Middle School Counselor
