NH Hunger Solutions sees our food and nutrition support system like a power grid that moves healthy food to households - in New Hampshire, the grid is well developed in some areas and patchy or non-existent in others.

As of September 16, 2024, over 340,000 NH residents, including over 118,000 children, lived in households that reported not having sufficient food in the past week, and 1 in 3 older adults in NH reported not having sufficient food (80,251 adults ages 65+).

NH also has very low participation in federal nutrition programs; for example, we’re 47th in school breakfast participation and 39th in SNAP (food stamps) participation. NH Hunger Solutions is working with schools to feed more children and advocates to remove barriers to other federal nutrition programs.

Your donations help us:

  • Coordinate coalitions to make policy, system, and environmental changes to improve access to healthy food

  • Work with healthcare and community organizations to screen and refer people to the services they need to lift out of poverty and end hunger

  • Advocate for policy change to make food and nutrition programs more accessible

  • And advocate for schools to make school meals available for all children!

A hunger-free New Hampshire will require ensuring all communities are plugged into the grid so everyone eligible for food and nutrition support can benefit. Your support will help to get us there!
