Nile Swim Club

The Nile Swim Club was established in 1959 as a 501c3 organization when Black families in the small suburban community of Yeadon were denied access to the private White swim club. The Black community, wanting their children to have the same recreational opportunities, came together and founded the Nile. This year marks 66 years of continuous operation. This milestone is a testament to the years of dedication, growth, and positive impact that our organization has had in the community. We pride ourselves on our diversity and inclusiveness, and our social mission. 

We are committed to closing the gap in drowning statistics for children of color with our nationally recognized free swim program "No Child Will Drown In Our Town". We offer free swim lessons from June-August every summer.

We are also the future home of the Nile Tennis Academy!  The Nile Swim Club is undertaking a three-phase redevelopment project to renovate and revitalize our two existing tennis courts and establish the tennis academy. These courts will be the only courts available to the West End Yeadon community. These courts will serve club members, local schools and the broader community by promoting safe, accessible and inclusive tennis instruction and recreational play.

The Nile Swim Club (NSC) exists to provide the ultimate recreational, leisure, educational and overall wellness experience for individuals and families. We offer a safe place for youth to develop healthy relationships and thrive to become leaders. The NSC cultivates the human spirit and nurtures family and community unity.

We envision the Nile Swim Club as the nucleus of the neighborhood, offering year-round facilities and programs that increase membership and engagement and foster social cohesion to build a thriving and
