Schnauzer Rescue of Louisiana (dba NOLA Schnauzer Rescue)

A nonprofit organization

Schnauzer Rescue's mission is to rescue and find good homes for Schnauzers, one dog at a time! We give our attention and efforts to place our pets in homes with a happy ending for both the pet and the new owner! Our schnauzers are fully vetted with shots, spayed/neutered, tested and treated for heartworms if positive, and microchipped.

NOLA Schnauzer Rescue was founded in 2000 as Schnauzer Rescue of Louisiana. We have rescued almost 500 schnauzers since, and average about 25 to 30 dogs per year. About half of our dogs are owner surrenders, and the rest come from local animal shelters that we partner with. We have had dogs ranging in age from 3 months to 14 years old. We and our partner veterinarians have treated, outside of basic regular vetting, conditions such as amputations, bladder stones, heartworms, and cataracts. Many of our adoptions are to repeat adopters who know they are getting a great dog that is a perfect match for their family.
We are a totally volunteer, small organization who are deeply committed to our wonderful breed.

Testimonials

The most loving and compassionate organization. My first rescue saved me and my husband from our grief, and I will always be a foster/rescue human for this organization Our Pableaux taught us how to love even more than we thought we could. We are so thankful for Colleen Mooney and all the other members of this rescue group! JNW 9/2019

Amazing people, and I have my wonderful, nutty girl after first fostering her. KW 1/2020

I can't say enough about this organization. They go so far beyond normal means to help animals. It is refreshing to see people be nice just for the sake of being nice, helpful just to be helpful, and caring to strangers. Great job! CF 8/2016
