On a rooftop that once belonged to an ExxonMobil factory, art, nature, and community have taken root. At NOoSPHERE Arts, a multidisciplinary cultural center in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, creativity and ecology meet in a living sanctuary that reminds us of life’s ability to endure and flourish against all odds.

Founded in 2011 and now the only multidisciplinary arts space in the neighborhood, NOoSPHERE Arts transforms a former industrial site along Newtown Creek into a thriving hub for public engagement, where artists, scientists, and neighbors gather to explore our interconnectedness through performance, sculpture, sound, and movement. Its flagship program, the WE ARE NATURE rooftop series, brings together musicians, dancers, visual artists, and ecologists to celebrate the intricate web of life through immersive experiences rooted in systems thinking and sustainability.

Over the past decade, NOoSPHERE Arts has produced more than a hundred events, supported hundreds of artists - many of them women, immigrants, and underrepresented voices - and welcomed thousands of visitors to free and low-cost programs that connect people with art and the natural world. Against the backdrop of a once-polluted landscape now blooming with wildflowers, NOoSPHERE Arts continues to reimagine what’s possible when creativity, community, and care for the planet come together.

As we look ahead to 2026, we are fundraising to sustain and expand our WE ARE NATURE Series, our flagship rooftop program that brings free arts, performance, and ecological education to the Greenpoint community. Your support today helps us commission new artists, present 4–6 public events, and keep this beloved series completely accessible so neighbors, families, and visitors can continue gathering in celebration of creativity and environmental stewardship.
