Base Camp Lindsey: A Holistic Approach to Solving Homelessness

Base Camp Lindsey offers a holistic approach to solving homelessness. It is a transitional living facility designed not only to get Veterans off the street but also to provide them with the resources and case management services needed to overcome the challenges that led to their homelessness. The program aims to assist them in regaining independence and integrating back into the community.

This model is currently working in over 50 communities across the country, ranging from renovated motels in Las Vegas to refurbished apartments in New Orleans and tiny homes in Kansas City, Missouri. Rather than addressing only homelessness, this model seeks to solve its root causes, thereby reducing recidivism and offering a long-term solution rather than a temporary fix.

Through connections with community partners like United Regional Health Care System, Catholic Charities, Veterans Service Office, and Red River Hospital we  help our Veterans address their needs, whether medical, mental health, substance abuse treatment, or accessing earned benefits.  As of August 31, 2025 Base Camp Lindsey has met the needs of 14 Veterans with referrals, food/hygeine, and temporary housing. Each Veteran had an average of 5 days of temporary housing (motels) while awaiting Veterans Administration Supported Housing services to be initiated.  Through donations from our community, we were able to provide furnishings and household goods for these Veterans and ensure that their home was comfortable and functional for them.  Since beginning our outreach program in February 2023, there are 24 Veterans off the streets of North Texas and receiving the support and services they need to stay off the street.  Your support of Base Camp Lindsey ensures we will be able to meet the need of each Veteran who comes to us for assistance in getting off the street and returning to independence.
