Founded in 2005, the National Queer Asian American Pacific Islander Alliance (NQAPIA) empowers LGBTQ+ Asians and Pacific Islanders through community capacity building, policy advocacy, and resource development.

We support and resource LGBTQ+API grassroots organizing and leadership across the United States and Territories; advance an intersectional justice and equity agenda through policy advocacy, education, and mobilization; and ensure LGBTQ+API representation in research and resource development.

NQAPIA's major areas of work include:

-providing a wide spectrum of capacity-building support and resources (trainings and workshops; fiscal sponsorship; 1-on-1 project guidance; fiscal sponsorship) for 60+ small, mostly volunteer-run LGBTQ+API groups across the country.

-supporting the efforts of larger organizations, particularly LGBTQ+ and API nonprofits, to better serve their LGBTQ+API constituencies and be better allies and advocates for them.

-advancing an intersectional equity and justice agenda, particularly at the federal level, through policy education and advocacy, issue-based campaigns, and impact litigation.

-uplifting LGBTQ+API leaders and professionals across sectors to be better advocates through engagement events and fellowships.

-creating opportunities for more inclusive representation of LGBTQ+API people and our perspectives everywhere, especially in research and the development of resources.

-convening the country's leading gatherings of LGBTQ+APIs and allies, including local events, community leadership summits, regional and national conferences.
