On the Road to Wellness

A nonprofit organization

“Living with depression slowly took away that part of me that believed in myself.  One of the greatest things about being part of this Center is that I feel like I got that part of me back.  Every day I feel like I can work a little bit more towards being the person I truly want to be in this world."  -Kelsey, member since 2017

For over 35 + years, On the Road to Wellness has been a safe space for adults managing their mental health to receive connection and support.  Driven by the values of Intentional Peer Support (IPS), we maintain a non-medical, non-clinical environment where people are welcomed to come as they are. All services are no cost, including transportation.  No appointments necessary.  No insurance required.

Chris Hansen, co-founder of IPS, speaks about how many of us lose touch with who we really are and what we want when we become too focused on what’s wrong. Here at On the Road to Wellness, we don't ask each other “what’s wrong?” but rather “what happened?” and “where would you like to go?”  Together, we're able to support each other in a way that is genuine, honest, and judgment-free.

Who We Are

We are a mental-health, non-clinical, member-driven organization serving adults eighteen years and older. We provide a safe environment where people can develop and maintain their own sense of wellness, whatever that means to them. As a community of peers, we do this by using education, communication, and fun activities to enhance our journey toward recovery … all without clinicians, counselors, or therapists.
