Young Champions P.A.S.S. (Prepare Athletes for Scholarly Success) program serves as an expansion and extension of existing 1+1=U curriculum. Using athletics to combat high school and college dropout rates of athletes ages 14 to 21 years of age who have fallen behind academically.

P.A.S.S provides high school dropouts with academic services, support, networking and mandatory sports for a well-rounded curriculum.  PASS provides admissions into a two-year college along with professional development for a career in the semi professional and professional sports arena.  This includes but not limited to, the National Basketball Association, (NBA), the National Football League (NFL) etc.

This new branch of 1+1=U (Young Champions) is such an important part for our youth and young adult athletes. So many of our youth and young adults are underserved and ignored in the area of education, and they no longer believe that education is important.

This is where P.A.S.S. MAKES A DIFFERENCE!

We intentionally provide engagement, active support with community of individuals that are dedicated to the educational mentorship personal and professional development of our youth and young adults.

Not only will P.A.S.S provide a hand up and out of their circumstances, but also an extended hand of guidance that provides new connections for a brighter future.

Because regardless of their circumstances…SUCCESS CAN BE ACHIVED WITH EFFORT AND DILLIGENCE!

Who We Are

“Champions aren’t made in the gym. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them—a desire, a dream, a vision.” Muhammad Ali

Introducing … 1+1=U, Inc.’s
YOUNG CHAMPIONS
P.A.S.S. program
A sports-based education program that uses fields of interests in athletics to support at-risk youth (ages 14-19) to attain academic achievement, professional development and life-long success. It honors and pays homage to the legacy of Muhammad Ali, Louisville’s native son, humanitarian and boxing sports champion. The YOUNG CHAMPIONS P.A.S.S. PROGRAM responds to the challenges young people face while struggling to navigate poverty and systemic barriers on and off the playing fields of life.

YOUNG CHAMPIONS, et al is an expansion of 1+1=U’s youth development programming. It aims to target Louisville Metro teens by providing services FREE of charge to qualified, low-income and high school students, who no longer qualify for participating in school sports due to academic probation.

At the foundation of this inaugural youth development initiative, FREE out-of-school time program services are also offered in social emotional learning, tutoring, athletic fitness, nutrition, strength training and career exploration opportunities. Students are encouraged to prepare for and improve GPA scores, earn high school diplomas, pursue post-secondary education and opportunities for recruitment in professional sports.

The principle goal of the YOUNG CHAMPIONS P.A.S.S. PROGRAM elects to direct students towards combating high school dropout rates and achieving success both inside the academic classroom and outside on the playing fields of sports that include: aquatics; baseball; basketball; boxing; football; golf; tennis; and track & field.

To confront societal barriers that threaten to adversely impact student academic performance, this alternative youth program focuses on developing a model of success to instill values of ethical behavior, perseverance, resilience, discipline, service to humanity and good sportsmanship.
