Open Door Youth Services has been a vital part of our Southern Indiana community for over 40 years, dedicated to supporting and fostering the healthy development of vulnerable children and youth in Southern Indiana. Originally established as the Floyd County Youth Services Bureau back in 1982, our organization received grant funding from the Juvenile Justice Institute to renovate a shelter for troubled youth. Over the years, with the generous contributions of community foundations, volunteers, and community members, Open Door Youth Services has expanded its programs to meet the evolving needs of Southern Indiana. 

In 2012, we moved to a newly renovated facility and underwent a rebranding to reflect our new services and broader reach. The name 'Open Door' symbolizes our commitment to breaking down barriers to success for the most vulnerable children in our community.

As an accredited member of CARF International, Indiana Youth Services Association, IARCA, and Indiana Association of Resources and Child Advocacy, we provide a range of programs that impact the lives of over 1000 children each year. From our roots as a 10-bed youth shelter to the establishment of the Friends of Open Door Youth Services, a supporting 501(c)(3) organization, we have remained committed to our mission to provide essential support to those in need.

Today, Open Door Youth Services operates under the auspices of the Floyd County Circuit Court while being fully self-supporting. We are grateful for the continued support from our community and partners as we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people facing challenges.
