Operation New Outlook

A nonprofit organization

Relieving the personal pain and institutional burden of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

We send them off to war as soldiers and receive them back as shells of their former selves. Closed off. Fearful. Trapped in their memories, desperate to find relief.

Unfortunately, so many who come home never really come home. They bring their war with them. The statistics are alarming: at least 20 veteran suicides a day, more than 7000 a year (20% of all US suicides). An estimated "need population" of nearly 460,000 exhibiting disproportionately high rates of domestic violence, divorce, child abandonment, alcoholism, drug abuse, and homelessness - all linked to PTSD.

PTSD has been the life's work of Dr. Barry Goodfield and The Goodfield Institute. What he conceived 35 years ago as a pioneering psychotherapy treatment for Holocaust victims has morphed into The Goodfield Method™ a sophisticated cognition-based procedure that produces dramatic trauma relief for battlefield veterans within 6-8 weeks - medication-free. So transformative a technique that it may be the only psychotherapy procedure to have ever earned a US patent.

More than 200,000 hours of learning and experimentation have put The Goodfield Method™ on the brink of final success. The Goodfield Institute knows it. We feel it. Which is why we - mostly vets ourselves have formed Operation New Outlook (ONO), a 501 (c) (3) non-profit to bring Dr. Goodfield's work to fruition.

The sole mission of ONO is to help The Goodfield Method™ gain the national acceptance it deserves. To do so, the method must first be proven to the satisfaction of the US Department of Veterans Affairs - which will require a robust testing process versus a panel of conventionally treated VA patients. Since the test will employ advanced technologies - including fMRI/DTI measurements, video, thermographic images, clinical analysis, and close supervision of subjects, it will be expensive to conduct. $250,000 will be required.

ONO intends to pursue multiple avenues for raising the necessary funds, including grants, corporate sponsorships, foundation support, and online crowd funding.

Testimonials

"I strongly support Dr. Goodfield's effort to secure the necessary VA cooperation that ONO (Operation New Outlook) needs to conduct the test and rollout of his method. The plan (The Goodfield Method™) has been shared with Veterans Administration Secretary Bob McDonald in a lengthy one-on-one meeting In Washington, DC on August 25, 2015. The matter was subsequently assigned to Dr. Shereef Einahal, White House Fellow, Office of the Under Secretary for Health. I deeply appreciate your careful consideration of this plan to save veterans lives."
Trent Franks, U.S. Representative for Arizona's 8th Congressional District

"As a combat veteran of two wars, Korea and Vietnam, I have seen the impact of PTSD up close and personal. The PTSD problems facing the Veterans Administration are serious. The Goodfield program will do much to help those veterans to heal".
