PREACHING THE GOSPEL FOR THE SALVATION OF SOULS

The world needs more good and holy Dominican friars to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the salvation of souls. Our goal is to raise $24,000 which will fund two vocations retreats for young men who feel called to become Dominican friars. The retreats provide an opportunity for these men to pray, reflect, and learn more about Dominican life. Your support will provide young men discerning religious life with:

• Room and board at the retreat center (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
• All travel expenses for those coming from out of state
• Books, rosaries, and other vocations materials

These young men are your future priests and brothers, they will eventually be in your parishes and campus ministries baptizing, teaching, and helping future generations grow closer to Jesus.

Who We Are

This year for iGiveCatholic day, the Dominican Friars of Southern Province are asking for your help acquiring a preowned van for our novices in Lubbock, TX. Your support would allow the novices, friars in their first year of formation, to travel to various ministries, attend Mass, and complete household errands during this important year of discernment. Our goal is to raise $25,000 for a reliable van for novices to use for years to come. Thank you for your generous support!

Our story: On December 8, 1979, as a response to the rapidly-growing Catholic population in the Southern United States, the Order of Friars Preachers (Dominican priests and brothers) approved the foundation of a new Dominican Province – the Province of Saint Martin de Porres. The geographic boundaries of the province cover eleven states: Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

Since the foundation of the Province of St. Martin de Porres, the Catholic Church in the South has experienced unprecedented growth, and with that growth an ever-increasing need for priests and brothers. The Dominicans of the Province of St. Martin de Porres stand uniquely poised and ready to minister to this Catholic population. Our Province has been blessed with many priest and brother vocations representing the breadth of the Catholic population in the South. In the relatively few years since our foundation, the Province has grown into a joyful preaching and teaching community, ready and able to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in whatever manner or place necessary.
